Designing for Equity and Justice at Work II

Tuesday, December 8 3:30-5:00 pm

How might we create personal and professional habits that foster diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace environments? Participants in this workshop will learn about how cycles of socialization play a role in our lives, actions, and mindsets. They will explore opportunities for disrupting these cycles, generate actionable strategies for transforming their workplace environments, and leave with prototypes for creating more inclusive, equitable and just workplaces.

Cocreated by the Center for Race, Ethnicity, & Diversity Education and the Center for Design Thinking.

Learning Outcomes

  • Comprehend and recognize cycles of oppression

  • Understand how these cycles impede and constrain efforts towards inclusion and equity

  • Explore opportunities to prototype inclusive and just practices within our work lives that simultaneously cultivate inclusive and equitable workplaces.

Supported by the Professional Development Collaborative: Haya Ajjan, Reagan Chandler (Chamber of Commerce, Tammy Cobb (Kernodle, Elon), Marcy Green (Impact Alamance), Sara Beth Hardy (Burlington Downtown Corporation), Danielle Lake (Director of Design Thinking & Assoc.
